Human Resource / Payroll Manager

MT. VAN HOEVENBERG & OLYMPIC JUMPING COMPLEX

The Olympic Regional Development Authority is seeking a talented and organized professional to serve as the HR/Payroll Manager for Mt. Van Hoevenberg and the Olympic Jumping Complex. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, processing payroll; maintaining personnel files, time and attendance records, and payroll documentation; and performing other typical personnel functions (which include record-keeping, correspondence, employee benefits assistance, workers’ compensation reports, and clerical functions).  This person will also be responsible for explaining benefits as well as personnel policies and procedures to staff.  The HR/Payroll Manager may also be called upon to support senior management with clerical/secretarial duties and provide support to other departments on an as-needed basis.  The successful candidate reports directly to the Business Manager for the facilities and also works closely with ORDA’s centralized Payroll Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of basic business practices with a minimum of one (1) year experience in business procedures and demonstrated understanding of confidentiality is required. Prior experience with payroll functions preferred. Candidates must be computer literate and knowledgeable in Microsoft Office applications.  S/he must also demonstrate a professional appearance and manner and be willing to work with other staff members. Weekend and holiday work may be required.

COMPENSATION: Classified as a Grade 14 on ORDA Management Confidential Schedule with an entry rate of $42,459 per year.  A generous benefits package is offered including: paid leave (sick, vacation, and personal time); paid holidays; health, dental, and vision insurance; long term disability and supplemental life insurance at preferred rates; participation in the NYS and Local Retirement Systems; and participation in NYS Deferred Compensation, a qualified 457-B plan.

Grooming and Trail Maintenance Supervisor

The NYS Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA), the foremost Winter Olympic legacy organization, is seeking a motivated professional to act as its Grooming and Trail Maintenance Supervisor at the Olympic Jumping Complex and Mount Van Hoevenberg. Under the direction of the Department Head and Venue Management, this position is responsible for the grooming and maintenance of all trails and trail-related structures, markers, and signage at Mt. Van Hoevenberg and the Olympic Jumping Complex. The successful candidate will bring knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm as they work with a goal-oriented team to help provide a superior and safe guest experience.

Under the direct supervision of the Cross Country Department Head, responsibilities will include: supervising winter grooming operations and general trail maintenance; overseeing crews responsible for grooming, construction,  operation, and maintenance of various trails; providing status reports; and maintaining signage on trails designed for nordic skiing, snowshoeing, trail running, mountain biking, and other various trail-oriented sports. Other duties will include providing executional and maintenance support to the snowmaking department; race and event support; and interacting with clients, partners, and guests.

Nordic Groomer

The Olympic Jumping Complex and Mt. Van Hoevenberg, ORDA managed facilities, are seeking a skilled and talented individual to be a groomer. Under the direction of the Department Head, this position will be responsible for grooming and maintaining all trails at the Olympic Jumping Complex and Mt. Van Hoevenberg.

The successful candidate will work with their supervisor in order to fulfill the grooming/trail maintenance needs of Mt. Van Hoevenberg and the Olympic Jumping Complex; the goal of which is to provide and maintain a safe, world-class trail experience for all users during all seasons.  This includes grooming trails for Nordic skiing and the general maintenance of skiing, hiking, snowshoeing and Mt. Biking trails at Mount Van Hoevenberg.

Other duties will include performing maintenance on grooming machines; assisting the snowmaking department as needed; providing appropriate support for races and events; and interacting with clients, partners, and guests.

Snowmakers

Successful candidates will be trained on the safe and efficient operation of snow guns including, but not limited to, turning snow guns off and on as well as adjusting snow guns to make proper snow. During the summer months, snowmakers take care of routine trail maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job.

Lift Mechanics and Lift Maintenance Staff

Lift Mechanics and lift maintenance staff perform skilled mechanical work in lift repair and maintenance of all the chair lifts and surface lifts on the mountain. Duties will require climbing towers; working in all kinds of inclement weather; as well as operating a variety of power-driven tools and other specialty tools related to the work.

QUALIFICATIONS: Ideal candidates will have two years of full-time experience working in a mechanically inclined position.  We will train the right candidates.

Customer Service Representatives

The Olympic Regional Development Authority is seeking customer service-orientated individuals to work at various locations in the Lake Placid area. The successful candidate will perform tasks including, but not limited to: greeting customers and ascertaining what each customer wants or needs, opening and closing cash registers, performing tasks such as counting money; separating charge slips, coupons, and vouchers; balancing cash drawers; making deposits; stocking the sales floor; as well as straightening and cleaning the store.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to follow instructions and make decisions within basic policy and procedures. Candidates should be self-motivated, able to perform basic arithmetic functions, willing to greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner, practice good customer service, and be able to lift 20-30 lbs. Applicants should have strong communication skills and approachability. Previous retail experience is preferable, but not necessary. Knowledge of the Lake Placid Olympic venues is a plus.

Zip Line and Mountain Coaster Staff

Come be a part of Lake Placid’s newest sources of fun! The Olympic Jumping Complex & Mt. Van Hoevenberg, both ORDA managed facilities, are seeking energetic, enthusiastic individuals to become Zip Line and Mountain Coaster Attendants.  Staff will be cross trained and be responsible for providing guests with a safe, exciting and enjoyable experience. WE WILL TRAIN YOU!  You will learn how to teach guests to get in and out of zip line gear safely and guide them on the lines. Staff will also operate the all-new and exciting mountain coaster. All staff must adhere to social distancing requirements and other protocols to ensure the safety of fellow employees and guests.  Positions are available immediately!

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 18 years of age and physically able to perform the essential functions of the job (lift 30+ lbs).  Successful candidates must have excellent guest service, communication and teamwork skills.  A background in ropes and climbing is preferred.

COMPENSATION: Entry rate $15.47/hr

Track Maintenance Workers

Bobsled Experience Staff

Bobsled Experience Staff are classified as Maintenance Assistants. In addition to their primary responsibility of driving sleds in the bobsled passenger ride program, they are responsible for making and preparing the ice on the Sliding Track. Workers may operate a variety of power-driven mechanical equipment, be involved with maintaining buildings and grounds, and performing other tasks as assigned. Must be able to perform heavy physical labor. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and will be subject to drug testing. Will train. Entry rate: $ 15.47/hr
