Those days when you feel the sun setting on our Nordic ski season are always sad days. But this year will be different. Nordic skiing fans will still have lots to cheer about as the U.S. Ski and Snowboard SuperTour Finals, presented by the National Nordic Foundation, comes to Lake Placid March 26 – 30.
Recognized by FIS as the Continental Cup for the United States—the highest level of competition in the country – the nation’s top Nordic ski athletes will go head-to-head in distance and sprint races on the beautifully wild trails of Mt Van Hoevenberg. After racing all winter in places around the country and around the globe, these athletes will be here in Lake Placid, competing in the highest level of domestic Nordic ski racing and vying for next year’s World Cup spots and sponsorship opportunities.
This year’s deep natural snow put all our trails in great shape all season, and even the warmer March days aren’t going to spoil that for racing or recreation here in Lake Placid. Committed as Mt Van Hoevenberg is to snowmaking, this is one venue among a very few that can successfully host big national and international Nordic competitions this late in the season.
A full slate of races is on tap over several days of competition. The schedule kicks off Wednesday morning with men’s and women’s Individual Start Classic racing. Friday brings an exciting series of sprint racing, including a National Championship Sprint Final. That’s followed by National Championship Mixed Relay, both classic and freestyle, on Saturday morning. And in the final big events of the season, the nation’s best men, women, and juniors go head to head in 40 km mass start classic races.
In the stadium and on the trails, the cowbells will be ringing and fans will be making noise as the best U.S. athletes and others from around the world will be laying down their best performances to finish their seasons on top. Athletes to include Jessie Diggins, Gus Schumacher, Julia Kern, Ben Ogden, and other elite skiers as registration is ongoing.
With the World Cups now finished, the U.S. Ski Team will be here in Lake Placid to give us all a show for the ages. And with the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame in town for their induction ceremonies, you can expect celebrity skiers among the spectators, too.
The 2025 SuperTour Finals at Mt Van Hoevenberg offers an incredibly exciting and memorable series of races you won’t want to miss. Get the full details and tickets here.
