Cross Country Skiing
Overview
The trails of Mt Van Hoevenberg open with cross country skiing and snowshoeing in November!
The Olympic Cross Country trails of Mt Van Hoevenberg have delighted visitors since they opened for the 1980 Olympic Games. Since then snow-making upgrades, trail improvements, and world-class grooming have built upon our Olympic legacy. Skiers here have always found trails fit for the Olympians inside them, no matter their ability. Step into a pair of skis or snowshoes, breathe in the fresh, crisp air, and follow our path through the snowy woods. Our trails have helped train athletes, like local Bill Demong, Olympic Gold and Silver Medalist in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games, to Olympic glory.
New to the sport, or need a skills brush up? Our professional staff treats each day as if we are both hosting the Olympic Games and welcoming you in for a cozy chat, creating the ideal ski experience no matter your ability. That’s why, whether its your first time making tracks with our skilled instructors, or you are an Olympian in training, Mt Van Hoevenberg offers something for everyone.
We regularly stage major national and international skiing events, and offer ample event viewing from our lodge and stadium.
With world-class athletes to recreational visitors, our Nordic trails, toasty fires, and slope side treats provide you with one of a kind recreational experiences in Lake Placid.
