Area Maintenance Labor Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Area Maintenance Labor Supervisor is an essential member of the Facilities Team for Mt. Van Hoevenberg and the Olympic Jumping Complex. This full-time, year-round role is responsible for supervising and executing area maintenance operations, ensuring the upkeep of grounds, infrastructure, and equipment. The Labor Supervisor assists the Department Head by leading Area Maintenance tasks and work projects ensuring that they are completed safely, efficiently and to high standards.

The Supervisor works closely with other departments and reports directly to the Area Maintenance Supervisor. Weekends, holidays, early mornings, evenings, and on-call duties may be required.

Primary Responsibilities include Performing and Supervising:

Operations and Maintenance:

  • Snow and ice management, including plowing, salting, and maintaining safe access for pedestrians and vehicles.
  • Landscaping activities, such as mowing, pruning, planting, turf management, chipping, brushing and tree cutting.
  • Operation of various tools, machinery and heavy equipment.
  • Stormwater systems including clearing ditches, catch basins, and maintaining culverts.
  • Repairs and upkeep of roads, parking areas, walkways, and outdoor structures, addressing issues such as potholes, cracks, surface grading, and painting.
  • Waste removal and recycling efforts
  • Fuel storage and delivery systems in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Inspections, repairs and maintenance of equipment, machinery, facilities and infrastructure to ensure functionality and safety.

Safety and Risk Management:

  • Supervise and motivate staff on safe work practices, procedures, and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Identify and mitigate safety risks, promptly addressing hazards to maintain a safe environment for staff and visitors.
  • Report incidents, accidents, and near-misses accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring corrective actions are taken.

Supervisory Duties:

  • Assist with maintaining an inventory of fuel, tools, materials, parts and supplies.
  • Use Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to document work orders, track activities, and assist with planning maintenance schedules and activities.
  • Oversee team members, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Contribute to regular team meetings and assist with communicating priorities, address challenges, and ensure alignment with operational goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possess and maintain a Valid NYS Driver’s License.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree or vocational training in trades preferred).
  • 3-5 years of experience in maintenance, construction, or groundskeeping
  • Technical knowledge of skilled trades, maintenance practices, and equipment operation.
  • Familiarity with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs., work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and perform tasks at heights.

Wage/Salary:

Program, and Attraction Coordinator

Position Overview

The MVH Program and Attractions Coordinator is responsible for the management, development, and day-to-day delivery of the Mountain Coaster and Bobraft Experience attractions at MVH, while also providing operational and administrative support to the MVH Program Manager in the execution of a variety of programs, races, and events held at MVH. The Coordinator serves as the primary manager of these attractions and is responsible for defining and managing the complete guest experience, from the time a guest arrives at the attraction through the completion of their experience and departure. This includes establishing operating procedures, organizing staff and daily operations, maintaining presentation and service standards, and continually evaluating opportunities to improve the overall guest experience.

This role also plays an important part in the successful planning, promotion, and delivery of sport programming and events. The Coordinator reports directly to the MVH Program Manager and is ultimately accountable to the MVH General Manager. Work is performed primarily on-site at MVH, with required availability on weekends, holidays, and outside of regular business hours as needed. Occasional travel may be required. Miscellaneous support may also be requested by the Venue Manager and Business Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

Mountain Coaster and Bobraft Experience Management

  • Serve as the primary manager for the Mountain Coaster and Bobraft Experience attractions and oversee their day-to-day operation and guest experience.
  • Define and manage the complete attraction experience from guest arrival through departure, including check-in, queuing, orientation, loading, the attraction experience itself, unloading, and guest exit.
  • Develop and maintain operating procedures and service standards that provide a consistent, organized, and positive guest experience.
  • Coordinate staffing, daily assignments, schedules, and operational needs for both attractions.
  • Work closely with operational departments and supervisors responsible for the technical operation of the Mountain Coaster and Bobraft Experience to ensure a coordinated attraction experience.
  • Establish expectations for attraction staff regarding guest interaction, communication, presentation, and overall service.
  • Monitor daily operations and identify opportunities to improve guest flow, efficiency, presentation, and the overall quality of the attractions.
  • Coordinate attraction signage, information, wayfinding, and other guest-facing materials.
  • Assist with attraction training and ensure staff understand both their operational responsibilities and their role in delivering the overall guest experience.
  • Work with the Program Manager and other MVH departments to develop, promote, and improve the Mountain Coaster and Bobraft Experience as signature MVH attractions.

Program and Event Support

  • Provide operational and administrative assistance to the MVH Program Manager for various events and programs.
  • Assist in the development, promotion, and organization of new and existing MVH sport and non-sport programs.

Skills and Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in event management, sport management, recreation, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Must be able to lift and carry event materials and stand for extended periods during events and attraction operations.

Salary Range and Benefits:

The salary range for the position is $50,545 and a maximum salary of $72,285 per year. The hiring range for this specific position is $50,545 – $55,600 per year. The final offer will be within the hiring range and will be dependent on qualifications and experience.

Representative, Group Sales

Position Overview

The Representative, Group Sales is responsible for selling, planning, organizing and coordinating group meetings and events at Mt. Van Hoevenberg and the Olympic Jumping Complex, and for ensuring all operational and logistical aspects are defined and implemented effectively. The Representative, Group Sales is responsible for the management of vendors/subcontractors, the promotion and servicing of events at Olympic Authority venues, working closely with all participants to ensure coordination, providing direction to event staff, and implementing policies and procedures that support the objectives of the Olympic Authority Sales Department and Olympic Authority Venues.

Flexibility with work hours outside standard Olympic Authority business hours is required. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Olympic Authority Sales.

Duties and Responsibilities

Regular duties include but are not limited to:

  • Support the mission of the Olympic Authority
  • Generate group business and respond to inquiries from potential clients
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients from initial inquiry to post event follow up
  • Originate all client contracts/agreements with the Legal department and ensure the necessary policies and procedures are observed
  • Oversee onsite meeting management including room rental, audio/visual, catering, and set up/breakdown. This includes resolving any issues that may arise

  • Produce and maintain operational procedures and guidelines for events, as well as develop and improve department systems (as directed/needed).
  • Review Banquet Event Orders and attend BEO meetings with Sodexo Live! to ensure accuracy on all event catering
  • Order equipment, materials, and supplies as needed and within budgetary guidelines
  • Proactively create an event experience to ensure productive and enjoyable meetings, weddings, and social functions
  • Create proposals with pricing for potential events

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, tourism, or related field. Progressively responsible and relevant experience in sales or event marketing may replace educational requirements on a year for year basis.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in event planning, catering, conference center management, and/or hospitality management
  • Experience managing staff
  • Team player with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets and drive new business
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

Area Maintenance Assistant II

Job Summary:

Be a part of the essential team that maintains the iconic sports and recreating venues in Lake Placid! The area maintenance team supports the day-to-day operations of buildings, grounds, competition and recreational facilities at Mt Van Hoevenberg. Must be able to climb a ladder and willing to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions.

Operations Manager

Job Summary

The Operations Manager is responsible for the supervision of operations and maintenance departments, heads of Parking Lots, sidewalks, drainage systems, event infrastructure systems, building readiness, vehicle maintenance, and landscaping at Mt Van Hoevenberg Recreation Area. Also reporting to the Operations Manager is safety and compliance as well as medical.

In coordination with other (Sport Operations and Business Administration) Teams, they will support the reliable and safe operation of public recreation attractions, amusement devices, sport training operations and related equipment. The Operations Manager reports to the General Manager of Mt Van Hoevenberg and is responsible for connecting and maintaining communications across all MVH departments.

Duties and Responsibilities

Regular duties include, but are not limited to;

Capital maintenance planning, projects and equipment purchases;

  • Collect and analyze asset data, equipment and operational needs
  • Maintain an up-to-date list of capital priorities and projects.
  • Communicate priorities to executive management and operations teams.
  • Research new equipment, technologies and processes.
  • Assist with specification and implementation of capital equipment and systems

Custodial and Building Readiness Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Custodial and Building Readiness Labor Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day cleaning and custodial duties and staff at both Mt Van Hoevenberg and the Olympic Jumping Complex. They will report directly to the Building Readiness Department Supervisor and will assist with schedule creation, daily task assignments and the training and supervision of department staff.

This position requires a flexible schedule, including some weekend and holiday work, on-call assignments and extended hours when necessary to support facility operations and events.

The Labor Supervisor will typically supervise a staff of 5-10.

Primary Responsibilities include:

Regular duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the day-to-day tasks of custodial and building readiness team staff.
  • Assist the Department Supervisor with creating and managing staff schedules.
  • Be the primary point of contact for the custodial team, providing task assignments and problem-solving support.
  • Ensure team members are properly trained on tasks, equipment usage, and safety procedures.
  • Perform hands-on cleaning and tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, laundry, sanitizing and trash removal
  • Ensure restrooms are clean, stocked, and well-maintained.
  • Set up and break down spaces used for daily operations, meetings, and events; move and arrange furniture, fixtures, and equipment as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment; order and organize supplies.
  • Oversee the upkeep of custodial and maintenance equipment such as vacuums, floor machines, and other tools.
  • Perform and supervise basic maintenance and organizational tasks such as painting, minor repairs, light snow removal, weeding and planting flower beds.
  • Assist with seasonal décor set-up and removal.
  • Inspect work completed by the team to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Follow and enforce all safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Report any damage, maintenance issues, or safety hazards to the Department Supervisor and management
  • Assist with other operations and maintenance duties as required.

Trail Maintenance

Job Summary:

This role reports directly to the Labor Supervisor and works with a team responsible for the maintenance, preparation, and operation of skiing, hiking, bicycling trails, biathlon facilities, and venue support areas. The position combines advanced trail maintenance responsibilities with event preparation and operational support for training, recreation, and world-class competitions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Including but not limited to-

  • Learn, follow, and promote all venue and trail maintenance safety protocols.
  • Perform advanced trail maintenance activities including cutting, trimming, digging, grading, mowing, construction, and site maintenance.
  • Assist with maintenance and repair of trails, trail buildings, signage, biathlon facilities, and support infrastructure.
  • Operate and maintain equipment including chain saws, UTVs, snowmobiles, mowing tractors, rollers, and other approved power equipment.
  • Assist with snowmaking, grooming, and seasonal trail preparation activities.
  • Support event and program preparation including venue setup, competition infrastructure, course preparation, signage, fencing, and post-event breakdown.
  • Provide operational assistance during recreational programs, training sessions, and international competitions.

Motor Equipment Mechanic

Job Summary:

The General Mechanic I is an advanced role for experienced mechanics who can handle complex repairs on all types of resort vehicles. Vehicle Mechanics also take on mentoring responsibilities, sharing their expertise with junior staff. This position requires a deep understanding of vehicle systems and the ability to diagnose and solve intricate mechanical issues.

Be a part of the essential team that maintains the iconic sports and recreating venues in Lake Placid! The building maintenance team supports the day-to-day operations of buildings, grounds, competition and recreational facilities at Mt Van Hoevenberg and the Olympic Jumping Complex. Refrigeration Plant Monitor – Second & Third Shift

Job Summary:

Mt. Van Hoevenberg, a world-class Olympic training and recreation facility in Lake Placid, is seeking a Refrigeration Plant Monitor to join our team. This position plays a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the refrigeration systems that support sliding track  ice operations.

Primary Responsibilities include:

    • Conduct regular rounds to monitor refrigeration equipment and record readings.
    • Follow procedures and review operating conditions, observing that all systems are functioning within specified parameters.
    • Report significant changes, abnormalities, or concerns to the Refrigeration Department Supervisor or designee.
    • Perform minor equipment adjustments under the direct guidance of the Refrigeration Department Supervisor.
    • Maintain accurate logs on operational data, energy usage, and weather conditions.
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.
    • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the refrigeration plant, equipment rooms, and work areas.
    • Monitor security cameras and control access gate(s).
    • Perform roving security rounds, minor snow/ ice maintenance, basic tool repairs and other general duties, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and interpret gauges, meters, and equipment indicators.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.

Building Maintenance – Cleaner

Job Summary: Join our building maintenance team at Mt Van Hoevenberg and the Olympic Jumping Complex as a cleaner. Cleaners play a critical role in the daily operation and presentation of our lodges and buildings. They will also assist our building readiness department in event set up and tear down throughout the year.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Perform cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, laundry, and sanitizing all areas of the facility.
  • Ensure restrooms are clean, stocked, and well-maintained.
  • Set up and break down event spaces according to specific requirements, including arranging tables, chairs, and equipment.
  • Assist with maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, and notifying supervisor when supplies need to be replenished.
  • Handle basic maintenance tasks such as painting and minor repairs.
  • Ensure all cleaning and set up tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Follow safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Report damage, maintenance issues, or safety hazards to management.
  • Other operations and maintenance duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications: Ability to follow instructions, read and follow check lists, manuals and safety instructions, operating procedures, and other documentation is required. The candidate will have verbal and written communication skills, a positive attitude and a good work ethic. Valid drivers license is required. Physically capable of climbing ladders and lifting up to 30 lbs.
